God is Always on Time

God doesn't always come when you want Him to, but He is always on time.

I guess this is part of God working on our character versus our pleasure. It sure would be nice to be taken directly out of the furnace but if we were we wouldn't get to see God work His greatness and bring glory to His name.

Hi Berry,

Ever notice how, in important ways, God often seems to come through at the last minute? Why not give us more of a comfortable margin? Why does He wait that long?

We had a case of this recently. God had told us He would come through, and He did, but within ten minutes of ruin. Whew! But I must also say, that He sure did turn the tide when He did this!

We concluded that He waits to see what is really inside of us. As impatience, doubt, etc., comes to the surface in that last, hard stretch . . . well, those things were really inside of us all along, they just needed a little extra 'heat' to bring that dross to the surface, to deal with it for our good. So it's a purification thing.

You seem to be referring to a recent experience also. Thoughts?

Loren,

I have seen this many many times in my life with the Lord. Like you said it gives us an opportunity to see what is in our character that needs to be dealt with or what is not Christlike.

Yes and even in this season I'm in the Lord seems to be working on me in that way. I have been studying John 15. We are pruned (the greek word is closer to cleansed)so that we might bear more fruit. The branches that don't bear fruit are cut off and the branches that have born fruit but are taking too much of the plants life just for the branches life are mostly cut off.

This is so there is a fresh focus on all energy is applied to fruit bearing. It is like the Lord exposing everything in us that is taking away from His purposes. Everything that takes energy away from eternal fruit is dealt with.
As a good husbandman God brings those things to light.

I also think of the Song of Solomon where she comes out of the wilderness leaning on her beloved. God exposes all those items in our lives we tend to lean on. He exposes incorrect motivations. All this exposure so we can focus on what really matters leaning on Jesus for our lives and for our fruit.

It is also of note that John 15:16 says that we have not chosen Him, but He has chosen us and appointed us so that we might bear fruit and that our fruit should remain.
